Howard University in serious trouble

A trustee at Howard University says the D.C. school may not be around in three years. Renee Higginbotham-Brooks, the vice chairwoman of Howard’s board of trustees, says the university is in serious trouble due to the school’s difficulties with fiscal management. Competing with less expensive public schools is one of her main concerns.

“Howard will not be here in three years if we don’t make some crucial decisions now,” Higginbotham-Brooks said. She also accused Howard’s president, Sidney Ribeau of a “lackluster job performance”.

Board Chairman Barry Rand said in a statement that the school officials are working “tirelessly” to address the issues the school is facing.
