Gronkowski set to play Sunday against the New York Jets

Tight end for the New England Patriots, Rob Gronkowski, was medically cleared to play in Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. Agent Drew Rosenhaus was first to report the news to Pro Football Talk, which posted the comment on their Twitter page. “Per agent Drew Rosenhaus to PFT, ‘Rob [Gronkowski] has now been cleared by all his doctors to play in Sunday in the Jets game,’” it said. Head coach Bill Belichick has not given a definite answer on Gronkowski’s status, and his only comment via Twitter was, “We’ll list the injuries at the end of the day.”

Gronkowski has had ongoing problems with his arm and back, and has had several surgeries on both. Recently he also suffered a staph infection, and there was concern over whether he would ever return.

The Patriots would certainly be happy to have the tight end back though, as even Tom Brady has seemed out-of-sorts without him. Experts say that Gronkowski excels for his size and skill, and he makes a difficult opponent for defensive players.
