First Lady Michelle Obama made a guest appearance on Nickelodeon’s “iCarly” on Friday morning. It is the first time a first lady has appeared on a television sitcom since Nancy Reagan appeared on “Diff’rent Strokes” in 1983.

Mrs. Obama says she appeared on the show because “iCarly’s” star character, Miranda Cosgrove, is the daughter of an Air Force Colonel who is currently deployed overseas and her daughters, Malia and Sasha, are also fans of the show. During the episode, the first lady thanks Carly and other military families for their service to the country. On Friday, Mrs. Obama also appeared live with the cast of the show and other military kids at Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria to promote the broadcast, which premieres on Monday, and answer questions.
