Jay Leno to get 2014 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor

The recent retired “Tonight Show” host and stand-up comedian Jay Leno will be honored at the Kennedy Center with the 2014 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Leno is the 17th person to win the Twain prize that was created in 1998. The award recognizes people who have had an impact on American society through their humor and social commentary. “What an honor!” Leno said in a statement upon the news of his award. “I’m a big fan of Mark Twain’s. In fact, ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ is one of my favorite books!” The Mark Twain Prize will be awarded to Leno in a gala ceremony in the Concert Hall October 19, 2014 and will broadcast nationally on PBS November 23.
