Clooney gives Obama fundraising boost

0

There’s no secret who George Clooney wants next term for president. Clooney recently raised $15 million for President Obama’s reelection during a fundraising event at his home in May. Now Clooney is participating with Americans Abroad for Obama, where he will dine with donors who are paying 15,000 to dine with him. Obama campaign officials have not commented on the fundraiser.

Both Obama and Romney have been looking to raise money overseas. While fundraising rules state that each citizen is allowed to donate a maximum of 2,500 to a candidate, the diners are not technically donating to the Obama campaign, but to dine with Clooney. There are less restrictive fundraising laws for larger corporations, like the Americans Abroad for Obama.
