Plane to be set ablaze, part of Reagan airport training exercise

Those in close range of Reagan National Airport Saturday, September 21, will surely be in for an eyeful.

The airport will be conducting a personnel training session in which a training aircraft will be set on fire.  The purpose of the simulation is to test the preparation and responsiveness of airport and hospital staff along with other emergency personnel.

The exercise will take place from 8:30 a.m. until around noon.  It will include the use of sirens, helicopters, firefighting equipment and 150 volunteers who will act as patients and passengers.
