The Muslim nation has announced its intentions to pledge $350 million to the famine victims in Somalia and the countries surround neighbors. The head of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, stated that the amount fell short of the $500 million that was the initial goal.

Ihsanoglu hopes that the $500 million can be met by other future pledges. The United Nations appealed for $1.2 billion for famine victims on Wednesday.
