Egypt’s Mubarak faces trial

Former Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak, 83, appeared in court today to face trial for allegedly ordering the death of anti-government protesters. Mubarak, frail and in a wheel chair, was dressed in a white uniform and contained in a mesh and iron cage, as is custom in Egyptian criminal trials. Arab media outlets have dubbed the event “the trial of the century” and many Egyptians look at the trial of Mubarak as justice for thirty years of corruption. The former Egyptian leader has denied all charges. “All the things that have been said are not true,” Mubarak said.
