Six members of the international military force were killed in a NATO helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan on Thursday. U.S. military officials reported to the Associated Press that the six victims of the U.S. Marine CH-53 helicopter were all Marines. It is reported that there was no enemy activity during the time of the crash, but the matter remains under investigation.
In a statement to CBS News, the Taliban took accountability for the crash of the helicopter. Mandy Clark, a correspondent of CBS News reported that the Taliban often exaggerates declarations of military success and that it is too early to determine the cause of the fatal crash.
