2 Libyan convoys enter Niger

Media observations of two Libyan convoys passing through Niger earlier this week fueled speculation of the whereabouts of ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. According to a Nigerien military captain, one of the convoys was headed to Niamey, the capital of Niger.

In a statement Tuesday, Niger government spokesman Alain Edouard Traore stated that if Gadhafi were to enter Niger, the country would respect the “International Criminal Court.” For the past half-year, Libyans have been fighting to end Gadhafi’s 42-year regime and bring about democratic reform.
