The National Park Service announced a ceremony will take place May 12 to commence the reopening of the Washington Monument. After being closed for three years, due to the 2011 earthquake, the monument has sealed over 150 cracks and rainwater leaks. New exhibits have been installed and visitors can once again take an elevator to the top. Hundreds of people are predicted to attend the reopening.
