The St. Louis Rams used their 249th pick during the seventh round of the NFL draft to select Michael Sam, making him the first openly gay player in NFL history. Sam played football at the University of Missouri and came out as gay to his teammates last season. Ram’s coach, Jeff Fisher, stated during an interview, “In the world of diversity we live in now, I’m honored to be a part of this.” After his selection, Sam turned to his boyfriend and kissed him.
