The law enforcement officers who shot and killed the Navy Yard shooter will not be facing criminal charges for their actions. Last September, Aaron Alexis, a Department of Defense contractor working at the Navy Yard shot and killed 12 and wounding four before he was shot and killed by officers on the scene. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that an investigation has come to a close and that the officers who fired at Alexis were acting in defense of themselves and others. U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. said “”We concluded that the law enforcement officers involved demonstrated exceptional valor in acting to protect the lives of Navy Yard employees and other responding law enforcement officers.”
