The preparation for constructing the MGM National Harbor is moving—and quickly. “We are preparing to break ground as quickly as possible at National Harbor,” said Lorenzo Creighton, MGM National Harbor president. “As soon as we have the proper permits and approvals, we won’t miss a day, because we are committed to beginning the flow of benefits as quickly as possible.” MGM plans to open its $925 million resort and casino by July 2016. The MGM National Harbor will be nearly 1 million-square-feet, and is set to sit upon 50 acres, hosting 3,600 slots and 140 table games, a 1,200-seat theater, and a 300-room hotel. The resort will also have ample space available for meetings, restaurants and shops.
