The Metro is proposing to expand its workforce for the ninth straight year with plans for 327 new jobs in 2013. Nearly 100 of the new positions will cater to the Silver Line, a Metro expansion in Northern Virginia that will eventually connect Metro riders to Washington Dulles Airport. The first phase of the Silver Line project is set to open in December. With the addition of these jobs, Metro will employee over 12,000 people in the DC area, not including contractors.
