Trial for cop accused of murdering woman and baby begins in PG County

A DC Metropolitan Police officer will stand trial on Monday for the suspecting murder of Wynetta Wright and her one-year-old daughter Jaylin. Richmond Phillips is accused of killing the women, with whom he had paternity disputes, in 2011 and leaving her baby to die in her overheated car. Wright’s body was found in the Oxon Run Stream Valley Park in 2011, her daughter was found in the car. Phillips’ trial begins Monday in the Prince George’s County Circuit Court. He has been suspended without pay from the police force pending a verdict.
