Living Building project will help DC meet sustainability goals

As part of Washington D.C.’s Sustainable D.C. Budget Challenge, officials have announced plans for the first “living building” in the city. The building will produce as much energy as it uses through solar and geothermic processes. Although a location has not been decided upon, officials have stated that they may renovate a public school for the project.

$4.5 million in grants have been awarded for projects aimed at getting D.C. to it’s sustainability goals, and the Living Building Challenge is one of 12 such programs.
