As Washington D.C. prepares for an influx of visitors during the Nationals playoff season, there is concern that the cities many street lights may not function as needed. Because of a $100 million payment dispute that has yet to be resolved, the outside contractors responsible for maintaining the street lights are not available.
Emergency city crews can monitor and replace some bulbs, but without the work of an outside contractor, the system is too large to maintain. There are hopes that an agreement will be reached by the end of the week.
