Crime rates continue downward trend in D.C

0

For the past three years, crime has declined across the D.C area. That trend has continued into this year, with crime down 6.3 percent from last year. This is compared to a 10 percent decrease in 2010 to 2011. The major change has to do with drug related crimes. Since the year 2007, crime has dropped 16.5 percent, with a 38 percent drop in homicides. However, it is hard to change the perception of crime in the D.C area as many news reports focus only on the high profile crimes across the area.
