Continuing a tradition started by former president George W. Bush, President Barack Obama will host his second Commander in Chief’s Ball this weekend. This year the event has been nearly doubled in size, to include about 4000 invitees, mostly enlisted soldiers. President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and his wife Jill Biden will also carry on the tradition of an opening dance with members of the service. This year, the four chosen soldiers are all enlisted men and women. Staff Sgt. Bria Nelson will share a dance with the president, while the first lady takes a spin with Marine Gunnery Sgt. Timothy Easterling. Army Staff Sgt. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Patrick Figueroa and Keesha Dentino will dance with the vice president and his wife. All four soldiers served in the wars in Irag and Afghanistan and are currently stationed in the DC area.
