Governor Martin O’Malley has submitted a bill that would expand early-voting in Maryland by two days, and includes a provision allowing people to register to vote immediately before casting their ballots. He has received flack from state republicans who are wary of same-day registration policies inviting voter fraud and further complicating the system. Democrats have consistently turned out in much higher numbers than Republicans for early-voting. O’Malley’s bill would bring the number of early-voting days from six to eight.
