Virginia saw more foreclosures than Maryland, with one to every 780 housing units receiving a foreclosure notice in the month of August. By comparison, Maryland had one in every 2,444. The highest number of foreclosures in Virginia came from Fairfax county, Prince William, Loudon and Stafford. In Maryland, the highest number came from Prince George’s County, Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

In spite of the greater number of foreclosures in Virginia, prices on Maryland foreclosed homes were better. Average prices were around $190,085 in Maryland for the month of August, while they were $244,758.
