Netflix divides company, names new branch ‘Qwikster’

Netflix has come under fire in recent months due to the splitting of their DVD rental and streaming programs, as well as their price increases. The CEO of Netflix issued an apology to customers for the way the news of that change was handled. He took it a step further by announcing the splitting of the company, and the rebranding of their DVD mailing service as “Qwikster.” Streaming service will still be called “Netflix.”

The move has drawn criticism from customers, who are frustrated by the mishandling of information. For customers who want both DVD rentals and streaming, they will now have to visit two websites. Others have criticized the new name, calling it dumb, and a way to protect the Netflix brand image as DVD rentals diminish.
