Unlicensed daycare providers arrested after infant death

Two unlicensed daycare providers have been arrested by police with child endangerment after an infant was found dead at the daycare residence in Bristow, VA. Prince William County Police arrested Mirna Mendez, 42, of Woodbridge, and Yolanda Garcelia Larin, 50, of Manassas on five counts of child endangerment. The arrests of the women are not related to the death of the infant.

The investigation concluded Larin and Mendez were the only two adults present with 23 children, ranging in age from newborn to 4-years -old. Five children were less than 12 months old, which lead to the charges of endangerment. Teagan Sample, 3-months-old, has been identified as the deceased child.The infant was pronounced dead after she was found unconscious at the residential daycare center in the 13200 block of Sapphire Ridge Place on Thursday afternoon. An autopsy of the infant is expected to take place on Friday. No evidence of foul play has been discovered thus far, police reported.
