After a historic delay in NASCAR’s Daytona 500, Matt Kenseth, went home with the trophy. Kenseth held off Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Roush Fenway Racing teammate Greg Biffle over a two-lap overtime finish in a race that was supposed to begin on Sunday afternoon, but ended in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Kenseth picked up his second Daytona 500 title. He was also victorious in 2009 at the end of a wild SpeedWeeks. “We had a really fast car and have fast cars in the past, and I figured out a way to mess it up. I am glad it all worked out,” Kenseth said. NASCAR’s three national series races went into overtime, with unknown winners taking victories in the Truck and Nationwide Series. The 2012 Daytona 500 will not only be remembered for its winners, but also for everything that went wrong. For the first time in Daytona 500 history, NASCAR had to push the race to Monday afternoon, which led to Monday night, and then an accident caused a massive fuel fire that delayed the race for two hours, as safety workers moved quickly to clean up the mess.
