Thai authorities file complaint against Lady Gaga

Thailand’s government has filed a police complaint against pop sensation Lady Gaga. Officials believe the 26-year-old pop star’s use of the country’s flag during a May performance in Thailand was offensive. The Culture Ministry said Gaga’s use of the flag, tied to the back of a motorcycle while dressed in provocative outfit, was “inappropriate” and disrespectful to its people. But the sold-out concert, which Gaga performed before 50,000 fans, wasn’t the first time Thailand wagged its finger at the singer. The Commerce Ministry lodged a complaint on the Grammy Award winner before the show even started. Gaga sparked controversy when she Tweeted out her plans to buy a fake Rolex watch at one of the city’s ubiquitous street markets. The Commerce Ministry said that Gaga was undermining the country’s efforts to stamp out piracy. No prosecution has or will take place, but the Culture Ministry said it filed the formal complaint to show dissatisfaction.
