Scarlett Johansson sues over French book

Actress Scarlett Johansson is suing a French publishing company for using her name and image in discussions about being beautiful.

The JC Lattes Publishing House said a lawsuit was filed last week about Gregoire Delacourt’s book “The First Thing We Look At.” A spokesperson for JC Lattes says the company’s lawyers are prepared to respond. The book is a work of fiction and is about a character that looks like Johansson, not Johansson herself.

Johansson’s lawyer says the actress is protesting the use of her name and image for “mercantile” purposes. She also believes the book is an invasion of her privacy.
