James Hetfield of Metallica filed a public service announcement asking for the public’s help to solve the murder of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington. Morgan went missing following the rock group’s show in Charlottesville, Va. on Oct. 9, 2009. The 20-year-old aspiring teacher’s skeletal remains were discovered three months later on a farm in Albemarle County, Va. The video included police sketches of a man suspected of the slaying. DNA recovered in the Harrington case has been linked to an unknown offender who attacked a woman in Fairfax City in 2005. In the PSA, Hetfield urges anyone with details on either the individual or the case to contact local police or submit the information online. Metallica, famous for songs “Fade to Black” and “Master of Puppets,” also donated $50,000 to help officials find the suspect. An award of $150,000, which includes the band’s donation, is being offered for information leading to the suspect.
