After 14 months of matrimony, comedian Russell Brand filed for divorce from singer Katy Perry, citing irreconcilable differences. Brand said in a statement, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.” A day earlier, both stars had been seen without their wedding bands.
The couple has fielded rumors of relationship problems for months. Both of them dismissed rumors of a trial separation over the summer. “I’m really happily married,” Russell said to Ellen DeGeneres last month. “I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive.”
