The Kroger Company has decided to purchase Harris Teeter Supermarkets Incorporated. Kroger will pay $49.38 for each of Harris Teeter’s stocks, paying a total of approximately $2.44 billion. Both companies have agreed to the deal.
Harris Teeter runs over 200 stores in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. Kroger will purchase the company with debt. It will also become responsible for Harris Teeter’s $100 million outstanding debt.
