More red-light cameras coming to PG County

0

Prince George’s County plans to add about 50 new red-light cameras in 2013. As with speed cameras, there are those who oppose red-light cameras, but Prince George’s County Police Maj. Robert V. Liberati says most people understand that they really do increase safety. He also says that the cameras already in place have proven helpful, and that research will be conducted to find the most important locations for new cameras. Tickets for running a red-light are $75, higher than the $40 speed camera fine because of the increased danger of running a red light. Pedestrians and other drivers are put at risk when someone ignores traffic signals.
