Phase one of Silver Line construction takes shape

0

The Metro’s Silver Line through Virginia is set to open sometime next year, providing rail service to Reston. Phase one of construction includes five stations, from McLean to Tyson’s Corner, up Rt. 7 to Wiehle Ave on the Dulles Toll Road. Contracts for phase two are expected next year, with construction completed by 2018–extending Metro service to Dulles International Airport.

Phase one will soon be open to the public and will change the way people think about commuting in the Tyson’s Corner area. Metro officials, and Virginia transportation planners say that bus routes will be changed to better suit the needs and capabilities of the new Silver Line. Only the station at Wiehle Ave will have parking available, the other stations will be accessible by pedestrian bridges and have bicycle store areas.
