Verjeana Jacobs (District 5) has been named president of the Board of Directors of the Maryland Association of Boards of Education. Jacobs perviously served as chair of the county school board for six years before being removed from the position by Rushern L. Baker III in a recent overhaul of the school board. At that time Baker was given approval from the state to appoint some members and personally select the chair and vice chair. Jacobs joined MABE in 2012, and was elected secretary to the Board of Directors last year.
