Ukrainian officials have accused Russia of moving forces and military equipment into the contested territory in the southeast of the country. Andriy Lysenko, Ukrainian defense spokesman stated Friday that 32 tanks, 16 D-30 howitzers and 30 KamAZ heavy Russian trucks passed crossed the border Thursday in the direction of Luhansk. NATO officials say the matter is being looked into, even as Russian officials deny the action and insist it is an unfounded and “provocative” rumour. Tension is still high in the region, with reports of fighting and the deaths of rebels and Ukrainian soldiers alike.
