U.S. officials anticipate U.S. attorney Loretta Lynch will be named Attorney General, reports CNN. The announcement will most likely not take place until the president returns from his official trip to Asia this weekend. Lynch, U.S. Attorney in New York, was appointed to the position first from 1999-2001 by President Clinton, and then in 2010 by President Obama. The White House refuses to confirm or deny the choice until the president makes a formal announcement. If appointed, Lynch would be the second woman, and the second African American to hold the post. She has a history of civil rights casework, which would benefit the Justice Department as it looks over the Ferguson, Mo. case.
