A nurse in Spain has become the first person known to have contracted Ebola hemorrhagic fever outside of West Africa. The BBC reports that the unnamed 40-year-old nurse in Madrid interacted with three infect missionaries who had been returned home for treatment. She is said to be in stable condition as the investigation continues into how she was infected. Her husband and three others have been placed in quarantine. The hospital has had extreme protective policies in place throughout, but they may have only been level two protections, not the necessary level four.
