Iranian scientist killed in bombing

An Iranian nuclear scientist was killed in a car bombing in Tehran Wednesday morning, in a series of attacks that Iran has blamed on Israel. Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, 32, was killed in the blast, which wounded two other passengers. Roshan was a deputy director at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, which has come under pressure for its nuclear research.

Tehran maintains that its uranium enrichment and nuclear research is for civilian energy purposes, and denies plans to develop a weapons program. United States officials and other Western nations have increased sanctions against Tehran after an International Atomic Energy Agency report that said Iran was developing technology needed for nuclear weapons.
