On Tuesday, court officials reported that a deconsecrated Roman Catholic priest, Oliver O’Grady, 66, has been sentenced to three years in prison in Ireland for possessing child pornography. He also admitted to molesting more than 20 children in California. O’Grady was arrested in Dublin after leaving his computer unattended revealing pornographic images of children on a flight from Amsterdam in December 2010.

While working in northern California, O’Grady was imprisoned in 1993 for seven years for abusing two brothers and was deported to his native land, Ireland, in 2000. He later released a documentary “Deliver Us From Evil,” which was Oscar-nominated in 2006 and spoke of him abusing more than 20 children. O’Grady pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing child pornography and was sentenced on Monday at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in Ireland.
