Earthquake causes minor damages in Puerto Rico

On Monday, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake shook Puerto Rico causing minor damages. Floors were cracked and there were several power outages, but there were no major damages or injuries. The quake occurred just after midnight about 35 miles north of Hatillo, at a depth of 17 miles.  One of the largest and most damaging earthquakes to ever hit Puerto Rico was in October 1918. It was a 7.3-magnitude quake that struck the northwest coast and caused a tsunami, killing 116 people. It is very rare for bigger earthquakes to strike Puerto Rico, although the island experiences small earthquakes daily.
