Extending her current winning streak to 23 matches, Serena Williams sailed her way into the second round of the Australian Open with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Australian Ashleigh Barty.
Williams has won 11 titles, including two majors, when she won 78 out of her total of 82 matches in the 2013 year. She opened this season at the Brisbane International and took her winning energy into Melbourne. It only took her 31 minutes to win the first set and the match was over in 57 minutes on Williams’ second match point.
