12 dead after Brazilian killing rampage

12 people are left dead after a five hour killing rampage in the southeastern city of Campinas in Brazil late Sunday night and early Monday morning. The victims were gunned down in several separate incidents in what appeared to be execution-style killings. All 12 victims were hit in either their head, chest, or abdomen.

Authorities are looking into all possibilities including gang-related and revenge killings carried out by police. The murders happened just hours after an off-duty officer was killed in an attempted robbery at a local gas station. Hundreds of citizens have taken the streets in protest of the murders, attacking buses and starting fire to three of them.
