The former campaign driver for former Washington, D.C. mayor Vincent Gray is set to be sentenced Friday. Mark Long acknowledged he was paid to serve as Gray’s chauffeur with money from an illegal slush fund that aided Gray’s 2010 mayoral campaign and pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge. Long later tried to back out of his guilty plea, arguing he was receiving harsher punishment than the ringleaders of the conspiracy to illegally fund Gray’s campaign. A judge rejected the motion and his sentencing will continue. Federal guidelines suggest a sentencing anywhere from probation to six months.
