Viewing service announced for ‘Godfather of Go-Go’ Chuck Brown

A public viewing and memorial service has been announced for Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go, who died on May 16 of multiple-organ failure from sepsis at age 75. Brown is known for blending funk, jazz, soul, and other musical forms to create go-go, which remains most popular in its birth place of Washington D.C.

The viewing will take place on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Howard Theatre. The public memorial service will take place on May 31, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
