Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial dedication postponed due to weather

With Hurricane Irene expected to make landfall late Saturday night, the city of Washington has made the move to postpone the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial which was slated to be on Sunday. The dedication has been postponed until September.

The memorial, located on the Tidal Basin on the National Mall, is thirty feet high and commemorates the Civil Rights leader. Sunday was the anniversary of King’s “I have a dream speech” delivered in the 1963 March on Washington.
