Tuesday marked 50 years ago President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964. The legislation came after decades of fighting segregation by young college students known as Freedom Riders. To respect the anniversary of the signing, many of the original Freedom Riders from the Civil Rights plan to celebrate the returning ride to Richmond, Virginia. The Freedom Riders will board buses with about 50 students in a victory ride from D.C. to Richmond.
