Execution anniversary of Osama bin Laden brings heightened transportation security

0

As the United States recognizes the one-year anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s execution, done by the U.S. Navy Seals’ Seal Team 6 under the leadership of President Barack Obama, travelers should expect an increased security presence on planes and trains. Metro reports there are no specific or credible threats against the system, but Metro Transit Police are aware that al-Qaeda has shown interest in anniversaries and significant dates.

Throughout the week, Metro Transit Police are expected to remain on a heightened state of alert. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says it remains at a heightened state of vigilance, and the security posture always includes measures both seen and unseen.
