A District of Columbia drug dealer has been sentenced in the case of his 2011 prison escape.

U.S. District Court documents confirmed Tuesday that 32-year-old Deandre Kelly received a 15-year sentence on November 14.

Kelly escaped from a prison in western Maryland after being arrested during a routine traffic stop in January 2011.  He was charged with possession of drugs and weapons and fled the prison the next day after assaulting two correctional officers.

He had previously pleaded guilty to drug charges in 2009, but failed to make his court appearances.

Kelly was apprehended in Bedford, Virginia in May 2011.
