For the fifth year in a row, Washington D.C. has ranked among the top states seeing an influx of population–this year, the city tops the list. In an annual study of migration patterns by United Vans, D.C. ranked just above Oregon, Nevada, North and South Carolina as the most popular places to move in the United States. Reasons include economic activity, higher-paying job opportunities, temperate climates, and technologically advanced industries.

States with the highest number of people leaving include New Jersey, Illinois, West Virginia, New York, and New Mexico.
