D.C. to enter into new contract for scratch-off lottery tickets

0

After the D.C. Council refused to sign the city’s last scratch-off lottery ticket contract in July 2013, the city’s ticket supply dwindled. The deal never went through because not enough of it went to local businesses as required by city law. As a result, $16 million in revenue was lost over an 18 month period. D.C. has recently entered into new contracts with two of the three North American companies that print tickets. The first new batch of tickets will go on sale on Wednesday. They eventually plan on utilizing local firms for related services like marketing and warehousing. A local company is still expressing an objection to the city’s previous bid solicitation for instant ticket services.
