In the height of possible military uproar, D.C. police remain on guard throughout the city.   Law enforcement is on stand-by near the White House, synagogues, and other areas of “high visibility” due to the governments contemplated attack on Syria.

President Barack Obama is pursuing approval from Congress to take action, following the announcement of the Syrian government allegedly using chemical warfare to murder civilians.  Various forces in the D.C. area have been assigned to patrol locations that may be the target of reprisal.  Synagogues across the city are a main security concern due to the upcoming Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

According to ABC7, the department maintains there is, “no credible information suggesting the likelihood of an imminent attack.”  Nevertheless, the D.C. deputy mayor for public safety, Paul Quander, shared a message to the public, “If you see something, say something.”
